We groom and maintain two separate trails: The Clearwater and The Suomi Trails. These trails are connected to the Taconite Trail, the Lawron Trail and the Marcell Trail. There is a trailhead parking area on County Road 233, which accesses both trail systems. To reach the parking area, go 11 1/2 miles north on State Hwy 38 out of Grand Rapids. Take the left at 38 Outpost (Cty Rd 233) and proceed approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile. Parking lot is on the left.

TRAIL UPDATE AS OF 09/08/10; The summer is over and it's time to start getting the trails back into shape. There have been numerous blowdowns on the trails thanks to some big winds this past summer and there is much work to do. If you live in the Grand Rapids area and would like to help out with this work, the 38ers would appreciate your assistance. Just email me and I'll get you pointed in the right direction.

Several snowmobilers were killed in this area last year and we don't need to see any more! Remember to ride sober, at reasonable speed, keep right and watch out for other traffic.

Our snowmobile safety training class was completed last December with 14 kids graduating. As was told to them in class, they and their parents are the future of snowmobiling. We hope they get the message. This year we will probably be teaching snowmobile safety again but using the DNR's new cd computer based course. Check this webpage periodically to find the dates. I'll post them as soon as we know when it will be.

If you are looking for a nice scenic ride, this is the place! There are plenty of hotels and resorts that accommodate snowmobile parking and some have access to the trail systems right out the door.

Please check back for updates on snow conditions and the trail report this winter.

Happy Snowmobiling!
