We groom and maintain two connected trails: The Clearwater and the Suomi Trails. These trails are connected to the Taconite Trail, the Lawron Trail and the Marcell South Trail. There is a trailhead parking area on County Road 233, which accesses both trail systems. To reach the parking area, go 11 1/2 miles north on State Hwy 38 out of Grand Rapids. Take the left at 38 Outpost (Cty Rd 233) and proceed approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile. The parking lot is on the left.

Our club meetings are held at Camp Hiawatha which is located off Co. Rd. 19 on the north side of Deer Lake. The meetings are on the lower level of the main building and start at 7pm on the first Thursday of each month from October through April. New members are welcome. The next meeting is on April 3, 2014. Come join us, we would love to meet you.

TRAIL UPDATE AS OF 04/03/14:

The trails officially closed at midnight on March 31. There is still plenty of snow in the area so ditch riding is available as is lake riding.

Lakes are pretty good overall. We had a bad slush problem initially but brutally cold temps solidified most everything. The recent warm weather has opened up some wet spots on the lakes now, so be careful.

It was a pretty good snowmobiling season. The snow came early and stayed throughout the winter. The trails got set up early and stayed in good shape throughout, thanks to the groomer operators and the cold temperatures which kept many riders at home. Those who did venture out found the riding conditions excellent throughout the season.

Our snowmobile safety training class was held on Dec. 14,2013 at the Wabana Town Hall. We certified 25 new snowmobilers.

Have fun, keep right and ride sober.

If you are looking for a nice scenic ride, this is the place! There are plenty of hotels and resorts that accommodate snowmobile parking and some have access to the trail systems right out the door.

Have a great and safe summer.
