Last week the Governor's Budget was introduced and DNR is requesting fee increases for several of the dedicated funds. The requested increase for snowmobile registration is $10 per year so a 3 year registration would be $105 plus Deputy Registrar fees. They have also requested that the out of state permits go from $35 to $50. Attached are the talking points used by the DNR for their requests.
MnUSA's Board of Directors will need to take a position on this fee increase at its meeting on February 12th. Without input from the MnUSA membership this is a very difficult decision knowing additional funding is needed to fulfill the grants to the clubs but a too high increase at one time may cause drop outs to snowmobiling.
Please review the attached documents and relay your comments to your MnUSA Director (names and contact information can be found in the MnUSA magazine or on the website at Our Board) or send your comments to the MnUSA Trails/Legislative Committee Chairperson Terry Hutchinson (firstname.lastname@example.org ) .
