Out-of-state snowmobiles: All snowmobiles require registration, either from Minnesota or a snowmobiler's home state. A $51 Minnesota State Trail Permit is also required to use state or grant-in-aid trails if the snowmobile is registered in the snowmobiler's home state. Get this permit on line or in person at Electronic License System agents or at the DNR Central Office in St. Paul, or by phone at 1-888-665-4236.
